Lemon has been considering a universal panacea, because of its active principles and its several therapeutic properties, that’s way it’s widely used in phitoterapy and aromatherapy.

Main lemon’s elements (Citrus limonum):
Citric acid, calcium citrate, potassium citrate, malic acid, glucose and fructose (directly assimilable), calcium, iron, silica, phosphorus, manganese, copper
rubbers, mucillagine
albumins terpeni, linalool, aldehydes, camphor of lemon
Vitamins: B - B1 - B2 - Bs – A - C - PP

What are they for?
Citric acid and citrate salts are natural acidity regulators.
B group vitamins are important for nervous balance, nourishment and skin stability.
Vitamin A is important to keep tissues young and supporting growth.
Vitamin C (100 g. of lemon contains about 40-50 mg of vitamin C) is essential for our living, it plays an important role as antioxidant against free radicals and acts on the endocrine glands.
Vitamin PP helps blood circulation.

Curiosity

According to some recent American and Swedish studies, lemon, eaten periodically and in right doses, would be useful to prevent intestine, stomach and pancreatic cancer. Swedish researchers, in particularly, state that the risk factors for pancreatic cancer are reduced of 50-75% if we eat almost 1 citrus fruit a day, rather than less than 1 a week.
