Bavarian Lemon Cream

Looking for a delightful and utterly delicious way to end a romantic evening on a sweet note? Don’t know which dessert to serve to celebrate an anniversary, your beloved’s birthday or St. Valentine’s Day?

First, make sure you have all ingredients on hand…we’ve got the recipe! 🙂

  Ingredients  (serves 2)

  • 150 ml milk
  • 1/2 vanilla bean
  • 75 g sugar
  • 2 egg yolks
  • 5 g unflavored gelatin
  • 200 ml cream

Preparation

Bring to boil milk with a crushed vanilla bean: when it’s about boiling heat off and let rest 5 minutes. Beat 4 egg yolks and sugar, dilute with some milk (take the vanilla bean out) and heat slowly, stirring constantly until thickened. Add the gelatin – that has been previously dissolved in the cold water – and let cool.

Meanwhile, whip the cream and blend it with the other ingredients. Wash and rub 2 lemons, cut them horizontally and scoop the flesh inside. Pour the Bavarian cream in these lemon baskets and chill them in fridge. Wait approximately 2 hours before serving.

Cooking tips

You can fill lemon baskets also with icecream, sorbet or fruit salad… Enjoy!
