Gingerbreads Cookies

Christmas homemade gingerbread cookies

It’s not a real Christmas without the famous gingerbread cookies , maybe  to prepare together with children . Here’s the simple recipe , a few drops of lemon for icing and then let’s decorate!


  • 350 gr of flour OO
  • 150 gr of sugar
  • 150 gr of honey
  • 150 gr of butter
  • 1/ 2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon of cinnamon
  • 2 teaspoons of ginger
  • 1/ 4 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1/ 4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 egg
  • 1 pinch of salt

For the icing

  • 80 gr of icing sugar
  • 1 egg white
  • 1 tablespoon of Limmi lemon juice
  • optional; chocolate chips , smarties or pencil for cakes


In a bowl, put the flour and the sugar .Then add cinnamon , ginger , cloves and nutmeg. Add baking soda  , salt and butter cut into small cubes to the mixture. Add honey and stir vigorously ; finally add the egg and knead ; give the shape of a ball to the dough and leave in the for about an hour, wrapped with cling film .

After an hour roll the dough with a rolling pin to about 4-5 mm . Take the Christmas cookie cutters (you can find them at the supermarket) to shape the cookies and put them in the oven on a baking tray lined with ovenproof paper. Bake in the oven at about 180 ° for about 10 minutes until golden brown .

Now you can prepare the icing: beat with an electric mixer the icing sugar, the egg white and the lemon juice. then you can decorate your cookies with the icing . You can add chocolate drops or colored smarties or use the pencil for sweets for the final decorations.
