Apple Peels Tisane

Did you just finish making a delicious apple pie? Make sure to keep the peels!

Here is a sustainable, natural, and 0% waste tisane recipe for you to try.

As Grandmothers and folklore say: “an apple a day keeps the doctor away”.

Keep this old folk remedy at hand in your cupboard to relieve insomnia and promote digestion.

This apple peel tisane is quick to make and can be consumed regularly.

There are two versions of it:

1) Fresh apple peels tisane

To make it:
Wash the peels of 4 apples, put them in a pan filled with water, and boil them for about 15 minutes. Strain the liquid with a colander, and flavour it with 3 teaspoons of LIMMI lemon juice. If you like sweet tisanes, opt for a classic combination of Limmi lemon juice mixed with 1 teaspoon of honey.

2) Dried apple peels tisane

Preparation

Thoroughly wash the peels of 4 apples, pat them dry, and then drizzle them with LIMMI lemon juice to boost the aroma and keep them from browning. Lay the apple peels in a baking pan, dry them in the oven at 80° C for 1 hour. Thereafter, lower the oven temperature to 70° C, and let them keep drying for at least another 2 hours.

Remove the pan from the oven. While the peels rest, bring 1 litre of water to boil. Steep the peels in boiling water for 8 minutes, and then strain the tisane.

Sweeten it with you favourite kind of LIMMI lemon juice: traditional, Sweet, or Ginger.
