Ingredients
- 3 spoons of black tea
- 2 tea-spoons of mint tea
- 1 litre of water
- 6 lemons (18 tablespoons of Limmi lemon juice
- 150 gr of sugar
Preparation
Mix the two different types of tea and sprinkle with water. Brew for about 5 minutes, then stir sugar until it completely melts. Squeeze the lemons and add them to the tea.
Put the drink into the fridge, for at least two hours.
For a refreshing summer afternoon we suggest to pour the tea in large glasses and to accompany it with a ball of lemon ice-cream.
Do you Know…Why does lemon make tea fade?
Because tea ( as red cabbage, flowers, bilberry and other berries ) is a natural extract which acts as natural indicator; they contain substances ( pigments ) named anthocyanins that are responsible of their change in colour in given conditions and specifically added to or in acid solutions. It is the case of lemon juice, which contains a high concentration of ascorbic acid… If you wanted to return to the original colour? Well, try to add a pinch of sodium bicarbonate, an alkali with the so-called basic properties(Ph).
