This natural concoction will strengthen and boost your body in wintertime.
This old Granny’s recipe is easy to make, and uses ingredients you certainly already have in your pantry.
Laurel is a symbol of glory and wisdom sacred to Apollo, and a common aromatic plant you might have used many times in the kitchen. It is known for its proven digestive, stimulative and antiseptic properties, and as a cure-all for our respiratory system.
Laurel, like lemon, is also a great remedy for halitosis, and according to folk tradition, placing one leaf between your pillowcase and pillow will make your dreams come true.
Laurel is often used in combination with whole cloves, which our Grandmas recommended to relieve toothaches because of their analgesic, anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial and anaesthetic properties.
These two ingredients, among other things, are also excellent natural moth repellents; just place a few laurel leaves and cloves in a sachet, and keep it in your closet.
Now, are you ready to taste this wholesome tisane?
Here are the ingredients:
Ingredients
- 1 litre of water
- 2 dried laurel leaves (or 5 fresh laurel leaves)
- 4-5 black peppercorns
- a small piece of fresh peeled ginger (or half a teaspoon of powdered ginger)
- 3 tablespoons of LIMMI lemon juice
- 1-2 whole cloves
Preparation
Bring one litre of water to a boil. Add the remaining ingredients. Turn the heat off, cover the pan and let it rest for 10 minutes. Thereafter, with a mesh sieve, filter and pour the tisane in a cup or thermos.
You can sweeten it with a bit of honey, or use our delicious Limmi Sweet instead of sugar and regular lemon juice.
