Osteoporosis

Osteoporosis: what’s it?

Osteoporosis is the structural deterioration of bone tissue, leading to bone fragility which affects almost adult women, after 60 years. Bones become fragiles and more likely to break. Menopause increases the risk, because there’s an estrogens deficiency: estrogen hormones, indeed, are responsible for building bone tissue.

Our organism needs a daily recommended amounts of calcium to grow and maintain healthy bones. A diet rich in calcium and vitamins plays an important role in an overall prevention and can be a good defence against osteoporosis developing. Women, in particular, are affected by this disease.
So, look at your diet, do exercise and eat foods rich in calcium and vitamins (milk-products, vegetables, fish and fruit).
