Thailand: Chicken with honey and lemon sauce

This Oriental sweet and sour recipe combines the bright scent of lemon with the sweet taste of honey. You can serve this tasty version of chicken as a second course, or accompanied by basmati rice or noodles.

Ingredients

  • 350 g chicken breast
  • frying oil
  • 1 lettuce leaf
  • sesame seeds

Honey and lemon sauce

  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • ½ cup water
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon LIMMI Lemon Juice

Batter

  • 1 egg
  • ½ cup flour
  • salt and pepper to taste

Marinade

  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • ½ teaspoon sugar
  • 1 tablespoon LIMMI Lemon Juice
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch

Preparation

Cut and marinade bite-size pieces of chicken breast in lemon juice mixed with salt and pepper to taste, sugar, cornstarch for about 10 minutes to let the flavors soak in.

Prepare the batter by placing ingredients (egg, flour, salt and pepper) in a bowl, whisk to obtain a uniform, lump-free mixture, and then add the chicken pieces to it.

In another bowl, prepare the sweet and sour sauce by mixing the honey with water, lemon juice and cornstarch.

Heat up the wok, add the frying oil, and start adding the battered chicken. Cook until golden brown. Remove it from the heat, and place it on absorbent paper.

Once all the chicken is crispy, heat up the honey and lemon sauce in a pan.  Lay the lettuce leaf on a charger, place the chicken pieces on it, and flavor them with the sweet and sour sauce. Sprinkle sesame seeds all over it to garnish.
